After an earthquake in Turkey in Izmir’s Seferihisar district, the first death due to the tsunami was announced. Earthquake scientist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan said in a statement about the tsunami after the earthquake in Turkey for the first time that people lost their lives drowned by the tsunami, he said.

The shores of Turkey to scientific research in 1856, 1866, 1881 and 1949 created tsunami earthquakes. The first loss of life due to the recorded tsunami occurred in Sığacık in the Seferihisar neighborhood during the Izmir earthquake yesterday. 86-year-old Fatma Erçetin, who was trapped in a tsunami in her wheelchair, died in the waters of the tsunami.

THE SEA WITHDRAWN FIRST, THEN IT HIT SIGACIK

According to eyewitnesses, after the earthquake, the sea level dropped first, then the strong wave hit the shores of Sığacık, Teos Marina, the fishermen’s refuge. The water, which was five feet high, brought ashore pleasure yachts, excursions, and fishing boats. As hundreds of terrified people sought shelter, the waves that crossed the coast hit the restaurants and cafes at the entrance to Sığacık Kaleiçi. Waters dragged everything like chairs, tables, coolers and barbecues to Kaleiçi. The interiors of houses and workplaces were filled with water. Cars were thrown into the water.

CAN LIVE THE MARKET

Fatma Erçetin, 86, who had to live in a wheelchair in the Kaleiçi district, was sunbathing in front of her house. Unable to escape the sudden tsunami waves, the old woman was flooded. Since the life market was taking place, no one even noticed its absence. When the tsunami waves rose, the lifeless body of Fatma Erçetin appeared.

ARTIFICIAL INJECTION

Fatih Şenev said: “When the tsunami happened after the earthquake, the waters brought everything together. We fled, we climbed high. Aunt Fatma, who had difficulty walking due to sore feet, was unable to escape. We found Teyze Fatma, who was swept away from her place after the waters receded. He gulped down a lot of water and was left in cold water. “We tried to do artificial respiration but we couldn’t save him.”
