After the 6.6 magnitude earthquake in Seferihisar, Izmir, the Director of the Kandilli Earthquake Research Institute and Observatory (KRDAE), Prof. Dr. Haluk Özener made important statements.

There may be sizes calculated by different institutions, they may vary. We are talking about a shallow earthquake with a depth of approximately 10-12 km.
First of all, I heard that there are some citizens, sadly, who lost their lives because of the earthquake. We wish our condolences to both the country and all of our citizens.
Based on first impressions, a 30-40 km fault is determined to have broken.
This is a normal earthquake. Normal fault earthquake. So far, we have recorded 21 earthquakes up to 1.5 hours after the earthquake. Earthquakes are increasing and aftershocks are expected to last 1 week and 15 days.
