An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in Izmir. The earthquake, whose epicenter is in front of Seferihisar, was felt throughout Marmara, including Istanbul.
“OUR 4 CITIZENS LOSE LIVES”
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced that 4 citizens lost their lives in the earthquake.
The husband used the following statements:
* Unfortunately, 4 citizens lost their lives in the Izmir earthquake. In total, 120 citizens were affected by the earthquake.
* 38 ambulances, 35 UMKE team and 2 ambulance helicopters are at the scene.
* We support the people of Izmir with our full support. Sorry for your loss.
70 people were rescued
Izmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger declared that 4 buildings were destroyed and said: “There were 4 dead, 70 people were rescued from the rubble.”
AFAD: THERE ARE 4 LOSS OF LIVES AND 152 INJURED IN EARTHQUAKE
In announcing that there were 4 dead and 152 injured in the earthquake, AFAD said that search and rescue efforts were also continuing on 12 buildings.
In the AFAD warnings it was stated:
* Do not enter damaged buildings.
* Leave roads empty for emergency vehicles.
* Do not make a voice call if there is no smell of natural gas when leaving the houses.
* Close the natural gas and water valves, turn down the electrical switch, close the valve.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY FROM PRESIDENT SOYER
The mayor of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, warned citizens about the traffic.
Soyer said: “We have been informed that there is currently a demolition of 20 buildings around Bayraklı. We need to warn our citizens about the use of vehicles, our debris removal teams cannot get there due to traffic congestion. “We are opening the Kültür Park, we need to direct the vehicles there,” he said.
