Academy of Sciences Member Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made important warnings about the expected Istanbul earthquake on Haber Global TV.
Prof. Dr. Mira said the following:
* When a fault breaks in an earthquake, it releases part of its energy. Send your energy to another area. We say be careful here.
* If local governments are going to do preparatory work in this area that is at risk, especially not on a public scale, they should do so as soon as possible. We say mitigation measures must be taken.
“THIS SHELL CANNOT REMOVE THIS ENERGY”
* We said ‘Istanbul is waiting for a big earthquake’. After 99, it charged energy in the crust below Marmara. This shell cannot handle this energy.
* There has been a serious 17-inch problem for 21 years. If we expect a magnitude 7 earthquake, the corresponding energy is equivalent to the energy of more than 1,800 tons of explosives at the same time.
POSSIBLE EARTHQUAKE 64 PERCENT
* There is a publication in 2000 where all historical earthquakes have been studied and a reputable publication. As a result of these studies, the probability of more than 7 earthquakes in Istanbul after 99 is 64 percent.
WHAT HAS CHANGED FROM AUGUST 17 TO TODAY?
* Earth surveys, hazard maps and earthquakes were produced from the Anatolian side to the Istanbul side. Where risks such as loss of life and property were measured, fires were measured. Without them, today we could not very precisely explain the damage of Istanbul.
* We have worked independently in states and municipalities such as Istanbul Technical University. Although the Sea of Marmara was an unknown sea, we investigated the dangers of the Istanbul earthquake with the support of experts from various countries and from NATO.
* The state did not help us a penny. Everything that is known about the earthquake has emerged from our research.
