The accident happened yesterday around 4.30 pm in the central Selçuklu district, Hocacihan district, Hicaz street. The 42 CHG 99 license plate car under the direction of Furkan O. (19) struck Bünyamin Özkan and his wife Sibel and their son Ahmet Eymen Özkan, who were walking on the sidewalk after escaping from the driver’s control. Bünyamin Özkan (36) and his son Ahmet Eymen (5) were buried in the Üçler cemetery after the funeral prayers held today at the Hacıveyis Mosque. Mother Sibel Özkan (36), who was injured in the same accident and was discharged after her treatment, sent her son and her husband on their last wheelchair trip. Bünyamin Özkan’s brother, İsa Özkan (51), asked Furkan O. (19), the driver who caused the accident, to receive the most severe punishment. Stating that the incident was not an accident but a murder, İsa Özkan said:
“It is sad. It is not a normal death. The images of this incident are in the form of murder. We live, others do not live. The necessary precautions must be taken for these people and the most severe penalties imposed. We expect our elders to be make laws that require penalties or whatever is necessary. My nephew was a 5-year-old boy. My brother was also a person who came home from work and liked to help the people around him. It is a murder of the driver. I hope that the necessary measures be taken as soon as possible and we want him to receive the severest punishment. Families hand over their car keys and let young people out. Hit my nephew and brother who walk the sidewalk without any sin and go on grocery shopping. Unfortunately, we lost both of them. I hope the laws are stronger against them. “
