Due to the increase in the number of contaminations in metropolitan cities after the Covid-19 outbreak, Muğla was the most preferred province in the migration that started in rural areas. Many citizens living in provinces such as Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir started buying land in the rural neighborhoods of Muğla.
CONTAINER AND PREFABRICATED HOUSE PREFERENCE
Citizens who cannot build a house on dirt fields prefer to live in containers and prefabricated houses due to the climate and climate of Muğla.
Land prices quadrupled
Land prices tripled and quadrupled as demand increased in rural neighborhoods as well as Muğla resorts. Land in the rural Algı district, 20 kilometers from Menteşe, is in high demand from citizens living in cities such as Ankara and Istanbul. The hectares of the fields, which a year ago were 25 thousand lire, find buyers up to 100 thousand lire after the pandemic. Citizens who buy or come from abroad find the solution to build wooden buildings on stilts or wooden containers. Citizens who escaped from city life and preferred to live with nature announced that they both avoided the virus epidemic and lived healthy lives.
“OUR WINTER NEIGHBORS INCREASED”
Retired Sinan Devrim, who stayed at his summer home in Akbük Bay, said: “We have 6 to 7 neighbors here now, they didn’t stay before. We are here in summer and winter. After the pandemic, they are also thinking of staying here. Because they live in prison in metropolitan cities. Here is a natural environment. Although we keep up with the pandemic here, it is not like in the city. Land sales were intense. Now it has become even more. We have to respond from 5 to 10 people almost every day. Of course, it is a question of supply and demand, prices have also risen considerably ”.
“I DON’T THINK OF GOING BACK TO ISTANBUL”
Ahmet Görgün, who stayed in the pine trees on the ridges of Menteşe Akbük Bay in the summer, said he did not intend to return to Istanbul in the winter season. Görgün said: “I prefer to stay here in winter. Because there is a busy life in Istanbul. There are reports that the Corona virus is intense. We are thinking of spending the winter here. I am very happy and satisfied here. Forest air, sea, clean air. We are far from density. Those who pass through here every day are especially looking for a house and land. We try to help, but from what I can see, everyone is trying to avoid the crowds of busy cities. This year, there is an intense influx to Muğla and its districts compared to previous years. Therefore, it is a question of supply and demand. When the density was high, the demands increased. There are a lot of people looking for places like this ”.
” PANDEM IS OPPORTUNITY ”
Stating that the pandemic creates an opportunity to settle in the countryside, Semih Ardıçoğlu, who bought land in the rural Algı district of the Menteşe district of Muğla, said: “I came four months ago. My reason for coming was in Ankara, due to the pandemic, we were obviously not going out. When you don’t go out, there is a problem at home. I did my research, this is one of our clean air regions. In the end it was a fortune and we got it. If we make this place life, we try to make it a place where we can stay in the future. We always had dreams, we are going to live in the country. The pandemic has also been an opportunity for us in this regard ”.
“NO LAND”
Abdulkadir Bulut, head of the Pergi neighborhood, said: “There are many visitors in our village. There are old and young among them. There are also those who are looking for a calmer environment due to the Corona virus. There are also those who are looking for different projects. There is still demand and there are many search engines. Many Kayseri documents in Turkey, Nevsehir, Nigde, are looking for various places like Izmir and Istanbul. Searchers typically have requests for 1 to 2 acre space. They want me to help them with this. While it was 25 thousand lire per acre in recent years, it is now 3-4 times the acre. “There is almost no land left,” he said.
