Bekir Brother has been fighting cancer for 3 years.

He had a very close connection with his readers.

Throughout his illness, countless questions about his health came to our newspaper through letters, phone calls and emails… His 40-year-old friend Emin Çölaşan, the writer of our newspaper, reported on him from time to time.

At the beginning of the pandemic, on April 25, 2020, the spokesperson granted an interview to Ankara news director Emin Özgönül for the weekend. Bekir Brother was saying the following:

“I’ve never had time for Andree, the kids. We were all half. I’ve always missed special meals, wedding days, and birthdays. The nights passed with nightmares. I’m tired of the court halls. They shot at our house. Back in the days when writers put bombs in their cars, I’d go start the engine first, Andree would come with Pako on her lap. But we have never suffered as much as today. We have never been as attacked as these days. Turkey never, in hatred and, so far from democracy. At least there were courts where we could take refuge, nothing more. We only have readers, readers at heart and lovers of the republic. Thanks to them, the town’s lights will be turned on. “
