Voting ends at TRNC (chair announced)

The voting process, which began at 08:00 hours, ended at 18:00 hours and the scrutiny began.

While 91 percent of the polls were opened in the TRNC presidential elections, Prime Minister Tatar received 51.94 percent of the vote and President Akıncı 48.06 percent.

In the second round of the presidential elections in the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, the presidential candidate of the Prime Minister and National Unity Party (UBP), and the president and independent presidential candidate Mustafa Akıncı competed.

In the first round of elections held on October 11, Tatar finished first with 32.34 percent of the vote and Akıncı finished second with 29.80 percent.

The YSK is expected to announce the uncertain election results and popular vote at 20:00.

In the YSK statement, it was indicated that at 5:00 p.m., the participation rate in the elections throughout the country was 61.03 percent.

Citizens cast their vote in 738 polls in the election where 199 thousand 29 registered voters were located.

The Turkish Cypriot people went to the polls to elect their president for the tenth time since 1974.

The YSK is expected to announce the election result at 20:00 tonight.

Voters were seen voting wearing masks and gloves as part of the new type of corona virus (Covid-19) measures.

Officials also warned voters to use disinfectants.
