Speaking at the I Ordinary Provincial Congress of Erzurum of his party, Ali BabacanHe criticized Devlet Bahçeli’s request to “hang up the bread.”
The relevant part of Babacan’s speech is the following:
Today is World Poverty Day. Many workplaces have recently been closed due to the impact of the pandemic. With the economic crisis that began and continued before the pandemic, our unemployed, incomeless and poor population increased. The government, on the other hand, could not do anything effective against the impoverishment of its citizens. When we calculate according to the criteria of the European Union, there are 17 million poor people in our country. We will implement policies that will eliminate poverty. We will go find what you need and help you. We will do these supports based on family and rights, not as a favor.
“DO YOU NEVER CUT?”
They started a project called ‘hanging bread’. Weren’t you ever ashamed of this? If you suspend justice, human rights and democracy, you will have to suspend that bread. This means that a government partner publicly declares that his citizen needs bread. As for the word, they call it native and national. Nationalism is not putting bread on hold.
