The fire that broke out in the fuel tank where a citizen was storing gasoline in the Tarik Cedide district of Beirut at night caused a large explosion.
Numerous firefighters who arrived in the region, which is one of the capital’s dense settlements, took the fire under control in no time.
The secretary general of the Lebanese Red Cross, George Kittana, told the country’s official NNA news agency that the bodies of 4 people who died as a result of the explosion in the fuel tank were found.
The Health Ministry also announced that the costs of treating those injured in the incident will be covered by the ministry.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the citizen who was storing gasoline to consume in his private company was arrested after the incident.
In Lebanon, which is facing one of the biggest economic crises in its history, the fuel crisis often comes to the fore due to the depreciation of the local currency. For this reason, it appears that the Lebanese have recently turned to storing fuel.
