Ayşe Karaman anesthesia technician, On the morning of July 29, 2019, her boyfriend, specialist Dr. Özgür Tarhan was found dead at his home in Çankaya district, Dikmen district. In the investigation carried out by the Public Ministry, some analgesics and anesthetics with active principles of ‘propofol’ were found on the night table next to the bed where the young woman slept. Özgür Tarhan, who was arrested at the end of the investigation, was sued in the 5th High Criminal Court of Ankara for “deliberate murder”. Özgür Tarhan, the defendant in the fifth session of the case, was released on the grounds that there was no possibility of concealing the evidence.
3 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS PAPER
The defendant Özgür Tarhan, Ayşe Karaman’s mother, Feride Karaman, her father Adem Karaman and the party’s lawyers were present at today’s decision hearing. The judicial commission promised an opinion to the prosecutor, indicating that the report requested from the Institute of Forensic Medicine was received and there was no more evidence to be collected. In the prosecutor’s opinion, the defendant requested that Tarhan be sentenced to 2 years, 8 months to 9 years in prison for “causing death by willful negligence.” The attorneys for the defendants stated that while they agreed with the prosecutor’s opinion of negligence, they did not agree with the opinion that the negligence was conscious. The court sentenced the defendant Özgür Tarhan to 4 years in prison for “deliberately causing the death of a person through negligence”. The court, which applied a discount to the defendant, reduced the sentence to 3 years and 4 months.
MOTHER’S RESPONSE
After the verdict, Feride Karaman, mother of Ayşe Karaman, stepped over the defendant. Mother Karaman, who threw the dirt she brought with her on the defendant Tarhan, said: “You did not fear God at all while you killed my daughter.” The defendant Tarhan was taken out the back door of the hall by the police, while mother Karaman was also taken into the hall. Feride Karaman made a statement in front of the courthouse with her lawyer Tevfik Tolga Beyendi. Unable to hold back her tears, Karaman said: “I lost my brilliant son at the age of 23. A woman dies every day. It is we who have our liver burned and roasted in the fire. I once heard my cry. When I went to the grave, promised to defend their rights, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t achieve anything because they wouldn’t allow it. ” .
‘WE WILL OBJECT THE DECISION’
Noting that the decision was made despite contradictions in the record, attorney Beyendi said: “The court eventually sentenced the defendant to 3 years in prison. Due to his willful negligence, it increased the sentence to 4 years. It reduced it to 4 years. 3 years and 4 months with the reduction of good behavior. The defendant received a punishment as a reward.
