WALL – In some parts of the US state of New York, it has been decided to close schools and workplaces without basic needs due to the increase in new types of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced at the press conference that 9 regions, which have seen an increase in the number of cases of more than 3 percent in the last week, will be closed as of Wednesday.

‘THE GOAL IS TO AVOID THE SECOND WAVE’

De Blasio said: “The goal here is to control the situation and prevent the second largest Covid-19 wave.”

Stating that the shutdown could take 2-4 weeks, De Blasio said they are taking a closer look at the other 11 additional areas they see as a growing problem in the city.

Under the plan, which includes 6 neighborhoods in Brooklyn, 2 in Queens and 1 in Far Rockaway, public and private schools, daycare centers and non-essential workplaces will be closed.

Restaurants can only serve as an order or take away delivery as long as they receive it from within.

In New York, public schools, which were postponed twice before due to the Covid-19 outbreak, opened their doors to education on Thursday.

Given that the daily increase in Covid-19 cases in the city has been below 3 percent since June, it appeared to be a safe zone where schools can be opened according to World Health Organization (DSO) standards. .
