HDP Kars Municipality Co-Chair Ayhan Bilgen, who was arrested in the investigation against the “Kobani protests” organized by the Ankara Prosecutor General’s Office in 2014, shared a remarkable message on her social media account.
Ayhan Bilgen announced that he would resign from his personal Twitter account, saying, “Greetings everyone, I will soon enter a security statement. I share the message that I want to convey to the public before the statement.”
Bilgen said: “I will resign as mayor if no administrator has been appointed until the end of my detention period,” he said.
DETAIL OF THE INVESTIGATION
As part of the investigation, 82 people were detained, including former HDP deputies, mayors and members of the VQA.
Ayhan Bilgen, Mayor of Kars Municipality, former MPs of HDP Altan Tan, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Emine Ayna, Nazmi Gör, Beyza Üstün, Member of HDP Can Memiş, Gülfer Akkaya, Member of HDP MYK Alp Altınörs, former spokesperson of HDP Günay Akubatila Perihan Koca, a member of the Spokesperson’s Committee of the Social Freedom Party, a member of the HDK-HDP Women’s Assembly Dilek Yağ, and a member of the HDP Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Ali Ürküt were arrested.
