Kuwait’s Council of Ministers announced that Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah (83) is the new Emir of the country.
In the written statement of the council of ministers, which met extraordinarily under the presidency of Prime Minister Sabah al-Halid al-Sabah at the As-Seyf Palace in Kuwait, “In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and Article 4 of the Act No. 4 of 1964, Crown Prince Sheikh Nevvaf al – Ahmed al-Jabir al-Sabah was stated to be the Emir of Kuwait.

Who is Emir Nevvaf?
The new Emir of Kuwait, Nawwaf al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah, who was born in 1937, is the sixth son of the Emir al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Mubarek al-Sabah, who ruled for 29 years until 1950. Sabah entered political life in 1962 and since 1991 has served as the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior. In 2006, he was appointed crown prince.

Described as the spiritual father of the security forces and the true founder of the Interior Ministry, Nevvaf served as Interior Minister twice, in 1978-1988 and 2003-2006.
He also assumed the position of Deputy Chief of the National Guard on October 16, 1994 and worked to improve the military system and make the National Guard the right arm of the Armed Forces.
Sheikh Nevvaf was elected Minister of Social Affairs and Labor in the first Kuwaiti government established in April 1991 after the war of liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion.
Sheikh Nevvaf, who served as Minister of Defense in January 1988, made efforts to develop and provide all modern weapons and military equipment so that Kuwait could fulfill its national mission of defense and protection against external threats.
After serving as Governor of Havli in 1962, Nevvaf, who made great strides in the city under his administration, began working as Minister of the Interior in 1978.
