On October 16, 2019, Bayram Kaynak injured assistant physician Kadir Songür in the throat with a knife at the Atatürk Research and Training Hospital of Katip Çelebi University in Izmir.
Kaynak, who was captured after trying to get hold of a woman’s handbag in Karşıyaka district, was arrested.
In the indictment, the prosecutor pointed out that the act of the suspect against the complainant who was a public official on the date of the incident should be considered as an attempted murder and requested the prison sentence of the accused from 13 to 20 years.
