The incident took place in front of a hotel located on Istanbul Beyoğlu Karaköy Kemankeş Street.
According to the information obtained, the Czech-born American journalist Andre Vltchek (57) arrived in Istanbul with his wife Rossie Indira Vltchek and two drivers in a VIP vehicle that he rented in Samsun, where he stayed for 9 days.
The couple, who did not prefer the plane to return to Istanbul, claimed that they left by renting a VIP minibus.
When they arrived in front of the hotel where they were staying around 05:30, his wife wanted to wake Vltchek, who fell asleep in Sakarya.
When Vltchek was not moving, his wife and the drivers informed the medical teams. Medical teams that arrived at the scene determined that Vltchek, who was diabetic, died. The police teams took a security strip to the street.
Crime scene investigation teams conducted an investigation on the vehicle. Although it was learned that the death of documentary journalist and investigator Andre Vltchek was recorded in police records as a “suspicious death”, the funeral was taken to the Morgu Institute of Forensic Medicine.
While the vehicle was taken to the police parking lot for inspection, it was learned that the statements of Vltchek’s wife and the drivers would be taken.
