Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency(BRSA), once the regulation takes effect, remote identification will be possible. In the new period, both customers will be able to become customers and existing customers will be able to bank with remote identity verification.
BRSA prepared the “Draft Communiqué on remote identification methods to be used by banks” to determine the remote identification methods that banks can use to obtain new customers and verify customer identity.
Consequently, the remote identification of real persons, bank employee and person; It will be carried out through video calls and communicating with each other online, without the need to be physically in the same environment. The wet signature will be abolished.
In the video call it will be mandatory to create an adequate level of security and confidentiality, taking into account the possible risks. The video call will be made with encrypted secure communication.
With the implementation of the application, faster and more convenient access to banking services will be provided. There will be an opportunity to save time, costs and labor. The process of becoming a customer can be completed in a maximum of 10 minutes. For banks, the use of paper and documents will be reduced and service costs will be reduced. For clients, on the other hand, there will be a flexible, innovative and open-minded customer experience opportunity.

The remote identification method with video calls is known to be used effectively in Germany, Spain, France and Estonia. In Turkey, the study conducted by the BRSA regulation is expected to be completed until 2021.
