80 hectares of burned forests in Ayvalık; the black table appeared in the morning

A forest fire broke out in the Muratreis Bay area of ​​the Küçükköy district of the Ayvalık district of Çanakkale, where the summer houses were located. Although the fire that broke out in the Ayvalık Islands Natural Park was claimed to be the result of the electrical cable break, the site residents gave the first response.

The flames grew in a short time with the effect of the strong wind and moved from the bottom of the Devil’s Table to Badavut Beach. 60 sprinklers, 4 bulldozers, 63 fire trucks, 8 earth-moving machines and approximately 500 people participated in the combat activities.

COOLING CONTINUES

According to the first estimates, 80 hectares of forest were burned in the fire that was controlled at midnight. While the fire is extinguished before it reaches the residential areas, the cooling works continue.

Ruhi Çelebi, who came to Ayvalık on his summer vacation and experienced the horror of the fire, recounted the incident:

* It was around 8.30-21.00 yesterday night. The energies were cut. When it was cut, the neighbors of the site came out. The fire started as a result of the breakage of the power transmission line cable at our location. The power cord broke and a sudden fire started with sparks from there.

* He continued towards Badavut with the strong effect of the wind. The residents of the site intervened with pickaxes, shovels and fire extinguishers in hand. After the fire department put out the fire, he headed to the fire zone above.

OXYGEN STORAGE

Mehmet Aydın, who has lived in Ayvalık for 30 years, said:

* This is the location of Badavut, the fire broke out 10 kilometers from Bağcılar, on the Muratreis side. There is no word to say. Our lungs were burned, these places were oxygen tanks. I still don’t know the cause of the fire.

Usually our people are very unconscious. The wind is not lacking in this region. They throw the cigarette out of the car, and when they throw their butt into the woods, a fire starts. I have witnessed many of those fires. In such cases, you need to be aware. It is a pity that it takes 200 years for this forest to return to this state.
