Şebnem Köseoğlu, Professor at Alanya Hamdullah Emin Paşa University (AHEP), Department of Tourism Management, contracted leukemia in September 2018. After approximately 3 months of chemotherapy, Köseoğlu began treatment in an Istanbul hospital when he learned that he had leukemia for the second time during his routine check-ups in May 2019. By launching a social media campaign for Köseoğlu for stem cell donation, all of Turkey, from sports to politics, gave their support to this campaign. In November 2019, a suitable bone marrow for Köseoğlu was found and transplanted on December 11.
When Şebnem Köseoğlu went for his routine check-ups in April 2020, he learned that his illness was returning for the third time. Before Şebnem Köseoğlu, who battled leukemia and was known as ” masked ” ebnem ” with her social media posts, got worse, the Red Crescent started a donation drive again. Şebnem Köseoğlu, who has been receiving intensive care for the last week in Istanbul, passed away on Monday, September 14.
ENTERING ALANYA, ACCOMPANYING KONVOY
Köseoğlu’s dying wish was to enter Alanya with a convoy. While the lovers complied with this request, they were waiting in the Dinek area at the entrance to the district, as the funeral entered Alanya, the lovers and relatives followed the hearse with the convoy. The convoy, attended by hundreds of people, continued to the Hacıbaba cemetery.
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ATTENDED THE FUNERAL
Köseoğlu’s body was buried in the family cemetery in tears after the funeral prayer that followed the evening prayer. In addition to Köseoğlu’s relatives and colleagues, the funeral was attended by the Mayor of Alanya, Adem Murat Yücel, the President of the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO), Mehmet Şahin, representatives of political parties, chairmen of NGOs and many people. .
