A year before the murder of Işık İkizoğlu, known publicly as the ‘hammer brutality’, Işık sued his ex-wife Yahya Cengiz Küçük for violence, threat and simple injury.

Küçük, who murdered his ex-wife İkizoğlu by hitting her head with a hammer, was sentenced to life in prison for ‘deliberate murder’ on May 3, 2018.
“I DO NOT ACCEPT THE ACRUTATION”
Işık’s mother, Fatma Füsun Cebeciler, her father, Yaşar İkizoğlu, and her older sister, Başak İkizoğlu, also attended the case in the Dikili First Criminal Court of First Instance. If the defendant Yahya Cengiz, who is in the Alanya Type L Closed Penal Institution, is a minor, he joined the hearing through SEGBİS. At the hearing, the defendant Küçük said: “I do not accept the accusation against me. I do not accept the opinion. I am not guilty” and asked for his acquittal. At the end of the trial, Küçük was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months before the Izmir Regional Court of Justice, with judicial appeal. The defendant Küçük stated that he appealed against the verdict.
“IT’S ONE OF THE MIDDLE LEFT WORKS IN THIS WORLD”
Başak İkizoğlu, Işık’s sister, who made a statement after the court; “We are here today because of the lawsuit that Işık filed in 2016 while he was alive. My brother died in 2017, a year after filing this lawsuit. Today, the defendant was sentenced for this lawsuit, that my brother is not among us. This punishment is very important. Another meaning was that it was an example to provide more cautious protection to women who were suspended. I can say it here. Sometimes we can lose a family member. This can cause us deep pain. But we must never give up, “he said.
GAVE HIM A PENALTY FOR LIFE
Işık İkizoğlu, who has a 10-year-old daughter in 2017, and his ex-wife Yahya Cengiz Küçük, who came from Antalya, met at a coffee shop in Dikili on Monday, May 15 of the same year. After the dispute between them, İkizoğlu complained to the police, saying that he had separated from his ex-wife and was beaten. İkizoğlu, whose testimony was taken, received a report that “no traces of assault were found” at the forensic doctor where he was taken. While İkizoğlu was returning home, the police launched an operation to arrest Küçük, but could not locate him. Küçük arrived at his ex-wife İkizoğlu’s home in the district in the afternoon. İkizoğlu and Küçük, whose daughters were in school at the time, argued again. Enraged, Kucuk killed his ex-wife Ikizoglu with a hammer to the head. Then the police called and reported him. The police teams that arrived at the scene arrested Küçük. A lawsuit was filed against Küçük, who was arrested in the Bergama Superior Criminal Court with the demand for aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of “murder for tormenting and torturing with monstrous sentiment.” Küçük was sentenced to life imprisonment on May 3, 2018 for ‘deliberate murder’.
