WHO IS SUNA KIRAÇ?
Suna Kıraç was born on June 3, 1941 in the family vineyard house in Keçiören, Ankara, as the fourth and last child of Vehbi Koç and Sadberk Koç after Semahat Arsel, Rahmi M. Koç and Sevgi Gönül.
He completed his primary education at the Turkish Education Association (TED) primary school in Ankara. In 1952, she decided to go to Istanbul Arnavutköy American College for Girls in her final year to study business and finance, and received a positive response from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania.
He entered his family business in October 1960
In October 1960, he began working with his father, Vehbi Koç, at the Istanbul branch of Koç Ticaret AŞ in Beyoğlu Merkez Han. His first task was to look at incoming and outgoing documents. He attended the administrative meetings of the Koç companies with his father and did internships in different departments, getting to know the community and the way of working of Vehbi Koç.
WHAT IS ALS DISEASE?
ALS disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) occurs as a result of damage to nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that allow muscles to move. BECOMES SECRETARY GENERAL AFTER 5 YEARS
After the establishment of Koç Holding in 1963, he became one of the five members of the first Board of Directors of the holding company together with Vehbi Koç, Rahmi M. Koç, Bernar Nahum and Hulki Alisbah. In 1965, he was appointed general secretary of the holding company and held this position for five years. Suna Kıraç, who married İnan Kıraç, CEO of Otoyol, one of Koç Holding’s companies, in December 1967, joined the Executive Committee of Koç Holding, which was formed under the chairmanship of Rahmi M. Koç together with İsak from Eskinazis, Bernar Nahum and Ziya Bengü. . In 1970, he became Vice Chairman of the Department of Administrative and Personnel Affairs at Koç Holding. After becoming director of human resources for the holding in 1974, he sought to set standards for the group’s companies in terms of promotion and merit, and to strengthen the group’s corporate identity.
BECOMES VICE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD
Kıraç, who was appointed Vice Chairman of the Koç Holding Board of Directors in 1980, made important decisions during the transition from assembly to mainstream industry. In 1994, he assumed the presidency of Arçelik AŞ, one of Koç Holding’s leading companies. Technological investments, capacity increases and efforts to improve quality during his tenure have paved the way for Koç Holding to become a global manufacturer with its Arçelik and Beko brands in the following years.
