Illegal excavation disaster: 2 dead 3 injured

The incident took place around the Fortress of Hercules near the ancient city of Ephesus around 8:00 p.m. Apparently, 5 people who came to the area to dig illegally to find treasure entered a well with a depth of about 13 meters with a generator. Nazım T. and Gürsel K., of the 5 people who operated the generator at the well, got out and went to Selçuk State Hospital on their own, getting worse due to carbon monoxide gas.

After Nazım T. and Gürsel K. said they had three more friends at the well, teams of gendarmerie, firefighters and AKS 110 were dispatched to the region. As a result of search and rescue efforts, the teams that arrived in the region reached the dead body of 2 people and rescued 1 person. The lifeless bodies of two people who lost their lives were taken to the morgue after an on-site examination, and the injured person was taken to hospital and treated.

IDENTITIES ARE KNOWN

The identity of those killed in the incident was determined, in which 2 out of 5 people were poisoned by carbon monoxide gas that came out of the generator they operated, and 3 were injured, who entered the approximately 13-meter well to carry out illegal excavations in the Selçuk district of Izmir. It was known that the people whose bodies were found in the search studies conducted by the teams were Altan Adnan Sarıbaş (61) and Innocent Yenidünya (36).
