Prof. Dr. Şenyiğit Dust Storm Warning: Don’t Open Windows, Don’t Go Out On Balcony

Following the dust storm that hit Ankara last Saturday, the General Directorate of Meteorology warned of a sensitive dust storm for Şırnak, Siirt, Mardin, Antalya, Manisa, Aydın and Balıkkesir starting Monday.

‘Dusty generation’, expressed as Africa, the Middle East and Asia, Turkey is in the middle of the desert, the world’s two major sources of dust are taking place under the influence of desert dust of African and Middle Eastern origin. The Southeastern Anatolia Region and the Central Anatolia Region are among the regions most affected by dust transport.

Dicle University School of Medicine Chest disease faculty member Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Şenyiğit said the dust storm affected hundreds of kilometers and the dust particles remained suspended in the air for days.

Stating that dust storms pose a serious health problem, especially in people with COPD, bronchitis and asthma, and in the elderly, Şenyiğit noted that dust particles and dust particles from the storm will enter the lungs through the mouth and nose and will cause difficulty in breathing.

Stating that the dust storm severely affected the southeastern region of Anatolia, especially in the summer months, Şenyiğit made the following warnings:

“In this storm, dust particles, dust particles enter the lungs through the mouth and nose and can cause shortness of breath in the respiratory tract of the lung. By always saying a storm, as if such harsh weather were blowing, no, it is not. Stating that people with chronic diseases, asthma, chronic bronchitis, COPD, and allergies should not even go to the balcony during this period, Şenyiğit said:

“These patients must wear a mask even when they go out on the balcony. They took him out with a mask, but there was shortness of breath, look, shortness of breath is also considered a symptom of Covid-19. Therefore, when you have shortness of breath, when you have a cough, there can be confusion in this way. But in dust storms, there is generally no fire, no chills or chills. ” (DHA)
