The sandstorm occurred in the Polatlı district of Ankara around 15:00. The sky darkened and huge dust clouds formed due to the sudden storm.

Polatlı Mayor Mürsel Yıldızkaya said: “I have not seen such a thing in 50 years” and warned people in the region to stay home.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş said: “Dear compatriots, our colleagues are on alert against the negative effects of the expected downpour in the northern and western parts of our city. I invite you all to be cautious about the possible risks of precipitation ”.
