Vice President Fuat Oktay declared that the repair of the damage that occurred in January in the pipes that carry the living water from Anatolia to TRNC has been completed and that the water will be supplied again from September 25.
Oktay, together with TRNC Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli and TRNC Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Dursun Oğuz, conducted examinations on the Norwegian flagged vessel ‘Skandi Seven’, which was carrying out repair work in the Anamur district of Mersin. Oktay, in a statement made during the inspections on the ship that came with a helicopter, stated that the repair of the damage that occurred in the pipes that carry the living water from Anatolia to TRNC in January has come to an end, and that the water will be given again from September 25. Oktay also said that water supply works to provide agricultural irrigation to Cyprus are continuing.
Within the scope of the ‘TRNC Water Supply Project’, water is transported from Anamur to the TRNC through pipes, some of which are laid under the sea, to supply drinking water.
