A small study conducted in Spain revealed that vitamin D almost completely eliminates the risk of Covid-19 in intensive care. So much so that vitamin D was 98 percent successful.

The first randomized controlled study of vitamin D for Covid-19 has been published. Consequently, vitamin D almost eliminated the possibility of requiring intensive care treatment. The study was conducted with 76 patients with COVID-19 at the Reina Sofía University Hospital in Spain.
It was randomly chosen whether 76 study patients would take vitamin D or not. As a result of this selection, 50 patients entered the group to receive vitamin D, while the remaining 26 patients entered the control group.
Vitamin D was administered to the patients as calcidiol (25 (OH) D or 25-hydroxyvitamin). This vitamin circulates in the blood and is also used to measure the status of vitamin D in the blood.

Treatment of patients who received vitamin D was 532 micrograms on the first day of admission, 266 micrograms on the third and seventh days, and 266 micrograms of 25 (OH) D once a week. The patients were treated until they were discharged from the hospital or admitted to intensive care or died.

The results obtained with the study were quite surprising. 50% of the people in the control group were sent to the intensive care unit. On the other hand, only 2% of those who received vitamin D treatment were sent to the intensive care unit. In other words, vitamin D reduced the risk of intensive care by 25 times.
In other words, vitamin D eliminated 96% of the risk of hospitalization in the intensive care unit. Based on the relative odds ratio, vitamin D eliminated 98 percent of the risk of hospitalization in the intensive care unit. Since the study is a small study, a model was created that takes into account all the differences in humans. According to this model, the success rate for vitamin D was 97 percent.
In the study, all patients treated with vitamin D were discharged without problems. Half of those in the control group were discharged without entering the intensive care unit. While 11 people from the other half of the control group were discharged from the intensive care unit, 2 people died.
