US President Donald Trump held a press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti in the Oval Office. He explained the details of the economic agreement reached by the two countries.
In recent White House footage of the deal, Serbian President Vucic’s confusion was reflected in the cameras when US President Trump announced the articles of the deal regarding Israel.
Those moments when Vucic bowed his head, looked at his delegation with the system, and was reflected on the camera were the agenda.
RESPONSE FROM SERBIA
Criticisms come from many circles that Vucic is unaware of a clause that stipulates that he will transfer his country’s embassy to Jerusalem, and that he signed the agreement without fully knowing it.
However, a statement about the images, which are on the agenda both in the international public and on social media, came from Serbia … In the statement made, it was noted that Vucic has plans to move his country’s embassy to Jerusalem.
Serbia’s move from its Tel Aviv embassy to Jerusalem is seen as a big step for Israel and the United States. The United States, which recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in 2017, moved its embassy there in May 2018 and called for a similar measure from many countries.
THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN REACTION
The Foreign Ministry issued a written statement in response to Serbia’s decision to move its Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
The statement read: “We invite all countries to abide by the UN resolutions adopted on this matter, respect the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and avoid steps that make it even more difficult to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
In the statement, it was stated that they are deeply concerned by Serbia’s decision to move its Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and it was recalled that Israel’s annexation of Jerusalem was rejected by the international community and the United Nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly emphasized that the question of Palestine can only be resolved on the basis of the 1967 borders with the embodiment of an independent, sovereign and geographically continuous Palestinian state whose capital is East Jerusalem. And yet, the transfer of the embassy of any country to Israel to Jerusalem would constitute a clear violation of international law.
