Citizen revolt of second-hand cars: prices flew, we were dizzy

After SCT rates changed, used car prices began to rise again. A citizen, who saw the prices, said that he had been looking for the vehicle for 2 months and said: “The prices are high, we are dizzy.”

With the regulations published in the Official Gazette, new rates came into effect in the SCT. The SCT rate was increased to reduce automobile imports, which negatively affect the current account deficit, and to support domestic producers. The rise in the SCT was also reflected in the prices of used vehicles. While citizens turned to second-hand cars, prices rose in the second-hand market.

The used car market, which opens its doors every Sunday in Bursa, was full again early this morning. There is no place left to take a step in the automotive market, where citizens who want to sell their used vehicles and buyers of new vehicles gather. Citizens, who visited the market step by step to buy second-hand cars in the early hours of the day, were surprised not to see the prices they expected. After the rise of the SCT last weekend, the price of second-hand cars increased, so that citizens could only look at them without buying a car.

“Prices are high, we are dizzy”

A citizen states that he has been looking for a vehicle for 2 months but is dizzy because of the prices, “The prices are high, we were dizzy. We were looking for a 40-45 thousand lira vehicle, but all of them went up to 50-55 thousand. After the rise in the SCT, prices went back up. Prices never go down. The nation is free. 2 “I’ve been looking for a car for months, but prices are always high. I looked at my model 92 car for 16 thousand lira, now that car costs 25 thousand lire ”.
