Hikmet Ata, who was elected mayor of the Marmara Ereğlisi district by DSP in the local elections on March 31, 2019, resigned from his party and was transferred to the AKP.
After Ata switched parties, the AKP District Office held a ceremony. Mayor Hikmet Ata, AKP deputy Tekirdağ Mustafa Yel, AKP provincial president Mestan Ö then and members of the party attended the ceremony.
“WE KNOW ATA SINCE 2014”
Speaking at the ceremony, MP Mustafa Yel said: “We have known Hikmet Ata since 2014. He fights with people’s problems and strives to solve them. We are happy to unite people with the servants of the people in Marmara Ereğlisi, ”he said.
AKP provincial chairman Mestan Ö then said that Hikmet Ata’s transition to the party will bring good benefits to Tekirdağ.
He explained why he quit
Marmara Mayor Ereğlisi Hikmet Ata wanted the decision he made to be beneficial to the district and the people of Tekirdağ. Ata stated that he worked hard for Marmara Ereğilisi after being elected mayor and said;
* We try to do what was not done, touch the intact, remember the forgotten. However, we have seen and understood that our municipality must be stronger and more effective in our demands, especially from Ankara.
* Before the elections, I would like to thank Mestan Özca, who has always supported his efforts to run for mayor of this district, and our teacher, Mustafa Şentop, the president of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, with whom I shared every minute of this process.
* With your support, our municipality will be very strong in our Marmara Ereğili. I would also like to thank our provincial president, who has always followed us in our 1.5-year term of service and always supported us in the important decisions we make for the nation, who encouraged us in this important decision we make today.
* From now on I resign from the Democratic Left Party. Hopefully our president will wear our badge. DHA
