Mersin City and Education Research Hospital Covid-19 Service Intensive Care Unit Responsible Nurse Nurdan Taşkın has been at the forefront of fighting the coronavirus epidemic with his team since March. Despite all the precautions taken, Taşkın was treated in hospital for 13 days after his test came back positive on July 18. Later, Nurdan’s nurse, who remained at home in quarantine for 14 days, returned to her duty as soon as she recovered and began to care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit of the Covid-19 Service.

‘YOU HAVE PAIN FROM THE HAIR TO THE NAILS OF THE FEET’

Claiming that he contracted the virus from his friend, Nurdan Taşkın said:
“We did the tests once a week as recommended by our Ministry of Health. We did our test when a friend we suspected was ill in our intensive care units. However, when I took the test, my symptoms appeared. He had a fever. during the day, burning in the eyes, burning throat as if I had the flu and burning in the cheeks.

I was weak, unwell, my muscles ached. These symptoms appeared when I returned home at night. My fever rose to 38 but then spontaneously subsided. My joint pain was too much. My feet couldn’t carry me. I had pain all over my body. You experience pain from the lock of your hair to your toenails. I stayed in the hospital for 13 days after my test came back positive. When I first went to bed, my lung X-ray was clean. But after 3-4 days, my lungs started having shortness of breath. My lungs seemed to be trapped between two bones.

Low and moderate pneumonia called Covid was detected on the chest X-ray. Then my high-dose treatment process began. I watched this treatment for 13 days and my test came back negative. I was treated for pneumonia for 14 days at home. My total treatment lasted 27 days. ”

‘WE WILL NOT LEAVE OUR DUTIES’

Stating that his mind is on his work even during the disease process, Nurdan’s nurse said: “A person who has survived the Covid process escapes from the environment of risk, but we return to the head of our health professionals. Again, I come to the Covid intensive care unit and continue with my duty. I work on positive patients. This is our place of duty, we will not leave here. As a Covid healthcare worker, what I want from people it is that we have responsibilities between ourselves, “he said.

Nurdan Taşkın also warned those who do not follow the rules of social distance and hygiene and those who do not wear masks: “Please let them wear their masks, pay attention to social distance. They don’t think anything is wrong with me, because breathing is a great blessing. I do this when I go home to the balcony. ” “If they don’t want to experience this, they should stay home, pay attention to social distance, not remove masks, pay attention to hand hygiene,” he said.
