The private plane carrying French President Emmanuel Macron landed at Baghdad International Airport in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who will be making his first official visit to Iraq, will meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimi, Iraqi President Berhem Salih and the President of the Iraqi Kurdish regional government, Nechirvan Barzani, in Baghdad.
Speaking about his visit to Iraq in Lebanon yesterday, Macron announced that he would visit Iraq within the framework of the initiative that he started with the United Nations (UN) to support the sovereignty of Iraq.
Regarding the fate of the French members of the terrorist organization DAESH in Iraqi prisons, Macron said: “Those who make free decisions to fight abroad and are accused of terrorism in a sovereign country should be tried in this state.”
THE VISIT TO LEBANON ENDED WITH THREATS TO THE MANAGERS OF LEBANON
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke threatening words to the Lebanese rulers at the end of his second visit to the country after the explosion in the port of Beirut.
At a press conference in Beirut, where he arrived to mark Lebanon’s centenary, Macron said the new government could be established in 15 days and begin financial and economic reforms.
Noting that Lebanese politicians are in favor of the formation of the new government in a short time, Macron said: “I insistently demanded that the political authorities establish a government in a period not exceeding 15 days, to which they will be bound.” said.
Expressing that the Lebanese government can deliver on its promises in 8 weeks, Macron said in a threatening tone:
“If the authorities do not move forward by the end of October, we will bear the consequences and the sanctions. If the Lebanese authorities do nothing, financial aid from the international community will not be unlocked.”
Saying that the authorities pledged to implement reforms in the financial and energy sectors, as well as the financial control of Central Bank accounts and illegal trade, Macron expressed his hope that the international community would provide financial support for reforms in the Lebanon.
Macron noted that the Lebanese authorities can resort to sanctions if they engage in acts of corruption.
“You say you see Hezbollah, which is armed and seen as a terrorist organization by the European Union, as a political party. Would you approach an armed organization in France like this?” On the question of form, he said:
“I am not referring to the terrorist nature of Hezbollah, but to its political and parliamentary structure. I can condemn Hezbollah and say that it should be disarmed. But it is clear that Hezbollah is a political force in the Lebanese Parliament.”
Macron, who had separate and collective meetings with Lebanese officials within the scope of his two-day visit, shared the information that he will move to Iraq’s capital Baghdad after Lebanon.
MACRON’S SECOND VISIT TO LEBANON AFTER THE EXPLOSION
