Justice Minister Gül attended the 7th Ordinary Congress of the AK Party’s Nizip District in Gaziantep.
In a statement after the congress, Minister Gül gave information on the developments in the judicial year that will begin on September 1. Gül also reacted to the Istanbul Bar Association, which hung up the poster of Ebru Timtik, who was arrested after the attack in which the prosecutor Selim Kiraz was martyred and began a death fast and lost his life 238 days later.
Stating that bar associations are legal institutions, Minister Gül emphasized that the only ideology of the judiciary should be justice. Minister Gül said: “Bar associations are a legal institution, the only ideology among bars should be justice and law. It is unacceptable that the roof of the bar association is the propaganda center and the backyard of an illegal structure and fringe structures of terrorist organizations.
Defense is one of the most important pillars of the judiciary. The lawyers who wear their honorable defense robes are part of the judiciary. In doing this, I believe that our lawyer friends, who are primarily rights and justice officials, who wear honorable robes, will not accept an illegal attitude in this regard. No one is above the law. Turkey has no power over any legal system, “he said.
‘AUTOMATIC GOOD CONDITION WILL BE REGULATED, PROCESS IN FIRST SANCTIONS’
Minister Gül affirmed that there are news regarding the judicial year that will begin on September 1.
Stating that prosecutors will now participate in first instance sentences, Minister Gül said that instead of automatic good conduct, a board will be established in prisons. Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gül stated that the electronic hearing system will become widespread: “All measures have been taken. The pandemic will be fought and public service will not be interrupted. Especially the electronic hearing phase will be generalized. There have been no prosecutors in the first instance sentences for 10 years. There was a judge, a defensive side, but no claim.
As of September 1, the prosecutors will be in the first instance and this is a very important advance for justice. Our goal is for the Human Rights Action Plan to come into effect. We will propose a more human rights-based approach. Our overall goal is faster and safer access to justice. We are uncomfortable that good manners are automatic in the new age.
We think this is wrong. Our demands in this framework were also approved by the Assembly. Starting on January 1, a prisoner will be released or released for his good deeds, which will be evaluated by the board, if he really corrects himself, he will go there. We attach great importance to this in terms of criminal justice. I also mercifully remember all members of the judiciary who lost their lives, including our martyr prosecutor Selim Kiraz. “Selim Kiraz is immortal until doomsday,” I strongly condemn all traitors who approach him. “
