Hülya Özdil, the wife of writer Yılmaz Özdil, bought a 4.6 million lire villa from a company on May 2, 2017 in the Bitez district of Bodrum. The building remained within the limits of the ‘commercial area’ in the current development plan. The teams from the Provincial Directorate for the Environment and Urbanization of Muğla determined that the terrace and outbuildings were built after the “Peace Reconciliation”, with satellite photos of the region.
After this development, the areas that are against zoning in the village were determined and the investigation began. Once the review was completed, the file was sent to the Ministry of the Environment and Urbanization. Furthermore, the villa was sealed by the Bodrum Municipality. The stamp, “Since this construction goes against the license and its annexes, it has been sealed and detained in accordance with article 32 of Zoning Law No. 3194” The statement said.
GATHER THE TILES IN ONE HAND!
It should be noted that Özdil did not implement the demolition that the Bodrum municipality had done with bulldozers against the illegal construction of the illegal village. The demolition teams that arrived at the illegal village collected the tiles one by one and demolished them.
The written instruction by the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization for the demolition of illegal additions in the village was notified to the Bodrum municipality. The municipality also sent a notification to the Özdil family to demolish these illegal additions by May 13. However, despite the notification, no one from the family came to the villa and no demolition was carried out.
NEIGHBORHOOD VILLAS ARE SEALED
As a result of the examinations, the Provincial Directorate for the Environment and Urbanization has canceled the registration documents for the building of some of the villas of the residents of Yılmaz Özdil. Therefore, the municipal teams sealed these villas. Municipal teams examined the villas, took measurements and took photos.

Residents of Aktur, one of the largest sites in Bodrum, where many houses had illegal plans, were known to start complaining to each other after the Özdil incident.
