The minimum amounts of the fixed consumption tax (SCT) were increased on cigarettes and some tobacco products. The presidential decision on increasing the fixed minimum amount of taxes for cigarettes was published in the Official Gazette.
The minimum flat tax, which was 0.3899 lire on cigarettes, increased 17.18 percent to 0.4569. Thus, in 1 package, 20 cigarettes, the tax increased from 7.79 liras to TL 9.13.
In addition to the fixed minimum tax, 0.44539 lire of the fixed tax is collected on cigarettes. A VAT is applied in addition to these. Because VAT is charged at the retail price, the SCT is multiplied by 15.25 percent.
Therefore, the lowest price of the cigarette, which sells for the lowest price with a base price of £ 11.6, will be £ 13.6. As a result of the new agreement, a pack of cigarettes is expected to sell for at least 14 liras by increasing 2 liras.
Cheap cigarettes had increased to 25 percent of the total market. With this increase, it was calculated that Finance could provide an increase of 1 billion Turkish lira in 1 year. For cigarettes selling below 13.6 pounds, the producer or marketing company will have paid that amount in cash.
