The Ministry’s statement is as follows:
* In Libya, illegitimate militia forces affiliated with warlord Hafter have recently increased their attacks on civilians and civil infrastructure, especially in Tripoli, without discrimination. In addition to intense artillery fire, more than 100 rockets were also fired at settlements in central Tripoli on 9 May.
* These attacks, where diplomatic missions, including our Tripoli embassy, Mitiga airport, civilian aircraft prepared for departure, and other civilian infrastructure are targeted, civilians are killed and wounded.
On this occasion, we reiterate that if our interests are directed at our representative offices in Libya, we will consider Hafter’s elements as a legitimate objective.
* It is unacceptable that the United Nations remain more inactive in the face of this brutality. It is the common responsibility of the international community to arrest the coup leader Hafter, who kills his own people without saying children, women and the elderly during Ramadan Mubarak and during this epidemic.
* It should not be forgotten that the countries that provide military, financial and political support to Khafter have responsibilities for the cruelty, chaos and instability to which the Libyan people are exposed.
* Turkey, friend and brother will continue to support the legitimate government of Libya and its institutions for the protection of the Libyan people.
