Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Istanbul Governorate took new measures to protect social distance on public transport. Administrative fines will be imposed on those who violate the specified measures within the scope of the measures taken in accordance with Article 282 of the General Sanitary Law No. 1593 starting at 05:00.
At Söğütlüçeşme Metro Station and at bus stops in Kadıköy, it was observed that drivers and citizens were careful to wear masks, while those without masks were warned that they could not get on public transport without wearing masks. In addition, it was observed that some metrobus drivers were wearing protective overalls next to the mask.
MASKED PASSENGERS AND PASSENGERS WILL BE APPLIED FOR A SEPARATE PUNISHMENT
According to the written statement made by the Istanbul Governorate, Metro, Metrobus, Marmaray, Tramway, IETT, Private Public Buses and Istanbul Bus Inc. in public transport vehicles operating on land, sea and railway systems within the scope of the measures. and so on. It has been announced that all drivers and passengers must wear masks, those who do not wear masks will not be taken to public transportation, and drivers and passengers who are without masks will be punished separately.

In the statement, because social distance cannot be maintained in case of “50% of passenger transport capacity”, public transport vehicles may not retain more than 50 percent of seated passengers, the number of Standing passengers will be limited not to exceed half of the seated passengers. Passengers were said to be allowed to ride in the seats by the window, leaving the side empty. It was also noted that the necessary markings will be made at stops and inside vehicles to facilitate passengers traveling or waiting at the station to comply with the social distance. Nurettin Kaymak, who went to work from the Söğütlüçeşme metro station, said: “There are controls, there are a maximum of 20 people, but our people do not follow the rules.”
