The incident took place on 10 December around 2:00 pm in the Yüzüncüyıl neighborhood of the central Çukurova district. The carrier Mehmet Oktay withdrew TL 21 thousand from a bank branch at the Toptancılar site on the D-400 road to pay its debts. He put the money in the torpedo of his truck. Following Mehmet Oktay’s notification, the teams of the Chief of the Robbery Office of the Office of the Public Security Branch of the Provincial Security Directorate began an operation to capture the suspects. The teams, who examined the security cameras, determined that the suspects followed Oktay’s vehicle for about 8 kilometers, and when they entered the mosque to pray, they smashed the vehicle’s windows and took 21 thousand TL in the glove compartment and escaped. The police, who detected the license plate of the rented vehicle used for the search, determined that the suspects were Gökhan K. and Kadir A. Gökhan K. was captured and detained at Emek Mahallesi and Kadir A. in Gülbahçe district. In the raids carried out in the homes of the suspects, 3,275 lire was seized, which it was determined belonged to Oktay.
Gökhan K., one of the suspects who were brought to court at the courthouse where they were transferred after their actions at the police station, was arrested and Kadir A. was released on condition of judicial control.
