In Istanbul, teams from the Office for Combating Cybercrime said: “Would you like to win 10 thousand TL?” Determined the gang that posted the ads. Employees of the gang, which set up 10 call centers, were offered gold and VIP options to applicants, received a membership fee of between 1,000 and 5,000 TL, and were charged a ‘withdrawal’ fee when those who couldn’t meet with women wanted to cancel their membership. Some of them were told that they had deposited their money into the FETÖ account and new money was bought with the promise of ransom.
According to Çetin Aydın’s report from Hürriyet, 14 people, including ringleader Ç.Ö, were arrested in the operation organized by the police, 304 thousand TL, 7 thousand dollars, 259 mobile phones were seized. 11 luxury vehicles were also seized. The names of approximately 5 thousand people who were cheated on digital data were reached, and it was determined that more than 15 million TL were made.
NOTICES INCREASED AGAIN
The complaints made to the websites and to the Police Department came to an end after the operation that took place last July. Recently, there has been a large increase in anonymous reports to both the Internet and the police. While the vast majority of defrauded men ask for help stating that they were defrauded by writing articles with nicknames on the Internet, some of them ask for help stating that their friends became members of the websites for the purpose of joking and that they were victims. Some men, on the other hand, claim that gigolo ads are concentrated on social media platforms, that they subscribe to these ads and want restrictions on these ads. The police resumed their work on the growing number of complaints and reports.
I CAN’T GO TO THE POLICE
Here are some of those who write to Internet complaint sites with nicknames:
– Ferruh: Jigolo membership site and they only pay 400 TL for membership and 1000 TL for commission in return. Saying ‘you will get 5000 lira’ is definitely not what they say. They do not return the money they receive.
– Honor: I clicked on a random ad on Twitter that said “you want to be a gigolo.” They wanted me to deposit 300 TL. I deposited. “I’m waiting for approval,” he said. I’m still waiting right now. I can’t go to the police so my family doesn’t find out.
– Kuray: I just called the site that I just applied to in the morning, I didn’t understand what they said and said I wanted to cancel it. They asked for a 400 TL fee. They said: ‘Then deposit 780 TL more, we will refund your 400 TL. Then they said: ‘Invest 1630 TL more, we will refund your 2000 TL in total. Unfortunately I deposited 400 + 780.
– Ata: Due to financial difficulties, I decided to become a gigolo and this agency crossed paths. I realized I made a big mistake after it was too late and got 4400 TL in total. Everyone flocked to Twitter.
Hope: They said ‘your gigolo album was created’ with 800 TL and they received 25 thousand lire. These should be called a stop. I am one of you plaintiffs.
