In this context, under the coordination of the General Directorate of Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance of the Ministry, the General Directorate of Internal Trade and the provincial directorates, audits are carried out in 81 provinces for basic foods and consumer products in markets, marketplaces and wholesalers.

During the audits, products with price increases that do not coincide with the supply-demand balance are detected, defenses are taken from the audited companies and the necessary information and documents are requested, such as invoices for the purchase and sale of the products. The defenses of the companies and the information provided are communicated to the Board of Evaluation of Unfair Prices for its evaluation.

The Board, under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce, is made up of 13 members representing the Ministries of Justice, Finance and Finance, Industry and Technology, Agriculture and Forestry, TOBB, TESK, producer and consumer organizations and the retail sector.

An administrative fine of 10 thousand lire to 100 thousand lire is imposed on companies that have made an exorbitant price increase, and from 50 thousand to 500 thousand lire to those that are dedicated to collection activities.

In these meetings it was decided to impose a total of administrative fines of TL 9 million 645 thousand to 283 companies, which were considered to have made an exorbitant price increase in many product categories, especially in basic foods such as legumes, vegetables and fruits.

The examination of 2,114 applications by the Board and the defense process of the companies continues.

In addition, necessary actions are taken for products that are against the Price Label Regulation during audits.

The Ministry of Commerce will continue with its activities to monitor exorbitant price increases both ex officio and in the face of complaints from citizens throughout the country without slowing down.
