The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality launched a new solidarity campaign for those left homeless after the earthquake. At the daily briefing held at the Izmir Transportation Center (IZUM), the mayor of the metropolitan municipality Tunç Soyer explained the details of the “One Rent One Home” campaign.
91 hours after the conversation, sharing his feelings on the rescued baby of the month from the rubble starting with Soyer, “Thank you very much to the Turkey Search and Rescue team from anywhere.” They are fighting extraordinarily.
Stating that 540 firefighters from the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality work 12-hour shifts each, Soyer said he takes pride in all the staff.
“A GREAT EXAMPLE OF SOLIDARITY IS SHOWN”
Stating that the needs have diversified and multiplied, Soyer emphasized that they work in coordination to meet each of these needs. Soyer continued his speech as follows;
* An example of solidarity from our metropolitan districts, provinces and municipalities is shown.
* We receive help and support. In this sense, our staff has matured well. A system was established that worked well.
* What appears to be chaos at some points is met with the effort of reaching too many earthquake victims. These are very beautiful, valuable. This has to be sustainable. This is not a problem that will end in 3-5 days. We have to make sure that this support is sustainable.
“WE OPEN A NEW PAGE”
Saying that they started a new campaign for those who lost their homes in the earthquake, Soyer shared the details of the project with the following words:
* We open a new page. A rental is a house. As we know, the services we provide to citizens living in tents continue to increase.
* But as the life of the store begins, we will have a hard time providing comfort, no matter how careful we are.
* Citizens definitely need houses to stick their heads in. We have to create a home somehow.
* We have to provide this in the fastest and easiest way. We have prepared a very solid hardware infrastructure.
* This is not just for Izmir. Turkey prepared itself on the basis of an infrastructure that can be implemented anywhere.
* We bring together those in need with those who have the power to meet this need.
* Just like we do at People’s Grocery and in the sleeping bag. This is the main idea. We bring people together.
“16 PEOPLE APPLIED”
Explaining that 16 people have applied for the campaign as of now, Soyer continued his words as follows:
* We put the IDs and names of citizens whose homes have become uninhabitable and destroyed, on our website.
* On our website, we have provided a price of 2,000 lira for those who want to provide rental assistance to these citizens.
* We determined a period of 5 months for them to survive the winter. It is possible to rent a house for 5 months for 10,000 lire. We prepare the page accordingly.
* Here we have a map that includes the determinations, whatever you want to see. We work with the map of needs.
* As of now, it appears that 16 of our citizens and earthquake victims have filed lawsuits. As of now, a person has agreed to pay 10 thousand lire. The figure here will be 10,000 lire.
* In short, our citizen who says ‘I need a house’ will enter the information as soon as he clicks here. We put this information on our page.
* As soon as our powerful citizens click on this name, they pay a 5-month fee with the money they will deposit into their IBAN account.
* Many residences remain empty in Izmir’s resorts and summer houses. We also offer options for our citizens who have a house here and want to use their house for 5 months.
* As you fill out these lines, our citizens will meet with those in need. With the coordination of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we will be able to solve the most painful problem in the fastest way.
* As soon as possible, we will rescue our citizens from the tents and reunite them with a nest to lay their heads on.
