Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that he “never heard of” the former senior administration official who endorsed Joe Biden and called the president “terrible.”
Miles Taylor, former chief of staff of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under Kirstjen Nielsen, became one of the highest-ranking officials of the former administration to differentiate the president’s rival on Monday, included in an ad for horrific attacks.
Mr. Trump retaliated against remarks after the first night of the Democratic National Convention, calling Mr. Taylor a “dissatisfied employee” and insisting he had never heard from him.

“Many thousands of people work for our government,” the president wrote on Twitter.
With that said, a former DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE named Miles Taylor, who I do not know (have never heard of him), said he left and sat on the open arms Fake News circuit. Said to be a real ‘stiff’. They will take everyone up against us! ”
Mr Trump’s outburst follows Mr Taylor’s appearance in a video for Republican voters against Trump and his op-ed in The Washington Post on Monday.
“What we saw week in and week out, and for me, after two and a half years in that administration, was horrible,” Mr Taylor, a longtime Republican, said in the video.
‘We would go in to talk to him about an urgent national security issue – cyberattack, threat of terrorism – he was not interested in those things. For him, they were not priorities. ”
Mr. Taylor claimed that the president wanted the practice of ‘re-separating children from their families on the US-Mexico border after ending the widespread strategy in 2018, under a number of accusations.
He added: “Given what I have experienced in the administration, I must support Mr Biden for President, and although I am not a Democrat, although I do not agree on important issues, I am sure Mr Biden will country will protect and I’m sure he’s not making the same mistakes as this president. “
Mr. Taylor’s wrote in his op-ed that the president “is governed by whim, political calculation and self-interest”.
According to Mr. Taylor, the president apparently wanted to “cut off the money and no longer provide individual assistance” to people suffering from deadly forest fires in California because he believed that the people in the state did not support him politically.
The former DHS official is among several high-profile former administration officials who have publicly nominated the president.
Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served as director of communications for the White House, has endorsed the Democratic nomination.
Former National Security Chief John Bolton has said he will not vote for Mr Trump or Mr Biden.
