The OPPO F15 is a mid-range smartphone with quad cameras on the rear and works with ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. The ColorOS 6 has a number of built-in handy features and here are the top 10 tips and tricks you can do on the OPPO F15.

Note: The guide below is based on the new ColorOS 7 operating system.

1) Take screenshots with 3 fingers

Taking screenshots with the power key and the volume key is the traditional way, however ColorOS has a gesture that allows you to take screenshots with the gesture of your finger and also without pressing any key.

To take the 3-finger screenshot, you need to swipe the screen from the top with your three fingers and the screenshot will be saved in the gallery. This feature is enabled by default, but you can access the settings and enable / disable them as desired.

  • To go Settings -> Convenience tools -> Gestures and movements -> Screenshot with 3 fingers.

2) View network speed in status bar

You can see the speed of the network in real time, see the speed of your Wi-Fi or mobile data while downloading, browsing or transmitting. On your OPPO F15, go to Settings -> Notifications and status bar -> Real-time network speed and tap the slider. Check the status bar and observe the speed in real time.

3) View the battery percentage in the status bar

Can’t find the battery percentage in the status bar? Those who have just bought the OPPO F15 or who use the phone for a while but are looking for the percentage, this is what they can do.

Go to the Settings -> Notification and status bar and hit the Battery percentage slider to see the battery percentage in the status bar.

4) Lock apps with fingerprint scanner

Applications can be locked with the fingerprint scanner on the OPPO F15, just set up the on-screen fingerprint scanner and use it to secure the applications. Every time you open the app, it will be locked until you unlock it with the fingerprint scanner (or PIN or Pattern, depending on the security you have chosen).

To go Settings -> Security -> Application blocking and choose the applications you want to block with the fingerprint scanner. The next time you open the app, simply place your finger on the sensor to unlock it.

5) Wake up the Google Assistant quickly

Activating Google Assistant is easy on OPPO F15, just press and hold the power key for 0.5 seconds and Google Assistant will open no matter what screen you are on. To enable this feature, go to Settings -> Convenience Tools and turn on the slider that says ‘Press and hold the power button for 0.5 seconds to activate the Google Assistant‘.

6) Driving mode and driving mode

A safety feature for drivers or users who use the phone while driving, the OPPO F15 offers smart driving features that include both modes;

  • Driving mode – intended for car drivers
  • Driving mode – intended for cyclists

When the driving mode is activated, Bluetooth will be activated and ready for Bluetooth connection in the car or vehicle so that the user can speak hands free.

Similarly, when driving mode is on, everything except incoming calls will be muted by default.

7) Record screen activity

The OPPO F15 has a function that allows you to record screen activity with one touch. Are you trying to record something from the screen, like a video, a story, or a game? The built-in screen recorder can help you do it, just enable the screen recorder from the notification panel shortcut and tap the record button. Once you are done recording, tap the stop button and the video file will be saved in the Gallery.

8) Enable OTG connection

The OPPO F15 supports the USB OTG function and to use it you must enable a quick setup on the phone. With that option enabled, you can connect your USB drives or USB sticks using the OTG connector or adapter and use it on the phone. After plugging in your USB device, activate the OTG connection slider found below the Configuration -> Additional configuration.

Go to the Configuration -> Additional configuration -> OTG connection to mount the USB drive on your phone. You will now be able to use the USB device.

9) Check free RAM

The OPPO F15 has 8GB of RAM and to see the amount of RAM available on the phone, there is a quick setting that needs to be enabled. You can see the free RAM directly from the Recent Applications menu as shown below.

Go to the Settings -> Additional Settings -> Show RAM / Memory information for recent tasks and enable the slider. If you are in ColorOS 7, go to Settings -> Additional settings -> Recent tasks manager -> Show RAM / memory information for recent tasks.

10) Make use of the smart sidebar

The Smart Sidebar is a quick shortcut bar that helps you access shortcuts from any screen. The smart sidebar opens a group of useful shortcuts, such as taking screenshots, recording screenshots, silent notifications, as well as a shortcut to the camera and applications. Take a look at the screenshot showing that the sidebar can be moved by sliding from the side edge where you will see a slight edge of the bar.
