Tom Bergeron, Erin Andrews leaving ‘Dancing with the Stars’

July 14 (UPI) – Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews will not return to host Dancing with the stars when the competition reality television show begins its 29th season in the fall.

Bergeron confirmed the news on Instagram, posting: “It has been an incredible 15 years and the most unexpected gift of my career. I am grateful for that and for lifelong friendships. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all these glitter masks?

Bergeron has featured more than 400 episodes since the ABC series began in 2005. Andrews joined as its co-host in 2014.

“Tom Bergeron will always be part of the Dancing with the stars family, “ABC and BBC Studios said in a joint statement.” When we embark on a new creative direction, he leaves the program with our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for his characteristic wit and charm that helped make this program a success. Erin won’t be back either, and we appreciate everything she brought to the ballroom. Fans have supported her since she originally competed as a contestant in 2010, and her sense of humor has become a hallmark of the show. “

Bergeron was outspoken last season of the network’s decision to choose former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

The network and the production company have not yet announced replacements or when they will be named.

ABC and BBC Studios face production challenges as they prepare to launch season 29 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke told Deadline that the show will follow best practices established in other territories.

“I am amazed at the ingenuity and care they are producing,” she said. “We are bringing all those innovations to the American broadcast. I am really confident in her plan.”

The Bachlorette Student Kaitlyn Bristowe is the first celebrity to join the cast of Season 29.
