Thousands of COVID-19 vaccines are being received next week in the San Antonio area. Here is where they are going.


More vaccines are being rolled out next week, including new Modre vaccine doses, in the first week after the Pfizer vaccine was announced at several San Antonio hospitals, according to figures released Friday by Tennessee’s Department of Health and Human Services.

Dozens of hospitals, emergency care clinics and H.B. Pharmacies are preparing to receive 30,200 doses of Moderna vaccine next week. The vaccine will be reserved for health and other front workers.

The news was announced in the same way that federal regulators gave final approval to the second vaccine. Made by Moderna, the vaccine requires two doses, similar to the previously approved Pfizer vaccine. The Moderna vaccine was endorsed by a 20-0 vote on Thursday by the government’s advisory panel.

The Texas Department of Health and Human Services is keeping track of where the vaccine has been distributed and how many vaccines have been delivered so far through its distributed online dashboard. Carrying hundreds of similar facilities across the state, it shows.

Vaccine distribution and administration data are collected by state from each county and the dashboard is updated daily, although lag is possible based on when data is reported.
