Sound beaming isn’t a new concept, but it’s appealing to people who don’t want to put on headphones to listen to audio dio of highly targeted speakers. It has been implemented in very limited commercial and industrial scenarios, but has yet to have a meaningful consumer impact. Israeli tech company Noveto is poised to bounce back, however, before it launches its Soundbeamer 1.0 next year before launching a show tour.
The prototype device shown for pressing right now is taller and slightly wider than the Nest Hub Max. It has sensors to track the listener’s ears and a dual transducer array that directs the audio to the sound outside the canals before making a sound. With the way to direct the sound, no one, even in close proximity, will be able to hear it. There have been other devices that have done trade show scams before, but stereo sound is a new front in the field.
Nowto, partners with Foxconn and China Euro Vehicle Technology AB, expects it to shrink the footprint before the Soundbeamer commercial emerges in December 2021. The company also hopes to sell integrations in home theater, home fitness, automotive, video conferencing and other products. In the meantime, if you walk around the right mall or convention center, you can try a soundbeamer for yourself.
