Is it just us or does the entire Bear Grylls schtick feel less impressive these days? Sure, you can cross an Amazon river filled with piranhas by building a bridge out of your own frozen urine, we suppose, but have you ever had to navigate the cereal aisle at your local supermarket when there are 40 inconsiderate masked people standing between it? and lucky charms? Regardless, Grylls remains a brand in the world of the most extreme survival, which explains why Amazon has deployed it as the host of its latest high-pressure competition series, The toughest race in the world. Debuting as part of the streaming service’s August offerings, it more or less presents what it says: 66 teams compete for 11 days on hundreds of kilometers of rough territory in Fiji. Which sounds absolutely exhausting, but maybe we’re just going back to the deli counter battles again.

However, if you’re looking for something a little less stressful, Amazon still has it covered: The streamer is also introducing a new series for kids, Jessy and Nessy, about a girl who is friends with a Loch Ness monster. (Or at least its equivalent without union). Everything looks tremendously cute, with Jessy outfitted with a pair of “inspectacles” that allow her to see the world from a different perspective. There is also, on a less whimsical note,Chemical Hearts, a film adaptation of Krystal Sutherland’s YA novel about an extremely irritating young man (Austin Abrams) who seems genuinely bewildered at not having fallen in love with someone at the age of 17.

Elsewhere we have Aisha Tyler Inside the boys“Although not, strangely, Boys themselves, as the show’s second season will not premiere until September. There is also the usual list of old movies to ponder, including the opportunity to enter the evergreen “It is Spider man 3 a good movie?“Debate, it should fill a few meaningless hours in your life.
