Although This is us Season 5 premieres in two weeks, the NBC drama will still be released a month later than usual. Typically, new episodes resume in late September. But the cast and crew had just started production on September 24 due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic. So the delay is not exactly surprising.
That said, it seems This is us Season 5 would be perfect for the wait. Since the end of the fourth season, the team has been increasing the return of the show. Back in March, Fogleman told the Hollywood Reporter that the premiere of the fifth season had already been written. Then a few months later, Mandy Moore teased another extraordinary start.
“I know Dan wrote the first two episodes of the season,” Moore told TVline. “I know it’s very ambitious, like our show has always been.”

In September, Brown echoed his co-op’s comments about this This is us Season 5 Premier. “Our first two episodes are left,” he said People. “As long as we, as artists, are able to implement what we have the opportunity to do through writing, I think our fans will be very, very happy.”
Foglem, meanwhile, hinted that the new season would cover epidemics as well as the Black Lives Matter movement. But even so, current events will not affect the show’s final game. In August Gust: Fogelman told Entertainment Weekly:
We have carefully crafted plans for six seasons of television shows that hundreds of people have run for four plus years of their lives. What is happening in the world can turn the details of how things happen. But the big move continues – and potentially increasing and improving the potential television show, then maybe some of our initial plans, because that’s our job.
