Their VMA 2020 nominations are here: Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and The Weeknd lead the pack

With the show exactly one month away on Sunday, August 30, the list of 2020 VMA nominees is finally here, and it’s huge.

Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the pack with nine noms each, while Billie Eilish and The Weeknd follow closely with six each. All four appear in the coveted category of Video of the Year, which finds Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted” going toe-to-toe with Eminem and Juice WRLD’s “Godzilla”, Future and Drake’s “Future Is Drake”, “Gaga’s Rain and Great “in me,” The Man “by Taylor Swift and” Blinding Lights “by The Weeknd.

According to 2020, the VMAs have introduced two entirely new categories, Best Home Music Video and Best Quarantine Performance, highlighting the creative ways artists adapted to the changing landscape. Voting in each of the 15 gender neutral categories begins today at vma.mtv.com.

MTV announced the nominees in their largest categories through Twitter’s new Voice Tweets feature today (July 30). Last week, MTV introduced the 17 nominees for PUSH Best New Artist, which have now been narrowed to six.

The VMA 2020s will air live at 8 p.m. ET / PT on Sunday, August 30 via MTV’s linear and digital platforms from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as well as from various iconic venues in the five boroughs of the city of New York.
