The Witcher: Monster Slayer announced

CD Project announced today The Witcher: Monster Slayer, a new free to play mobile video game from developer Spokko. While no release date has been announced for “soon”, the first trailer and images of the upcoming title show that it is a location-based video game with augmented reality in the style of previous titles such as Pokemon Go. The big difference? This is all about hunting and taking over monsters from The Witcher franchise.

Details are scarce for now about the upcoming title, but it has been revealed that it will include the ability to train characters, brew drinks, make bombs and select equipment. Much like the mainline video game franchise, trophies can be earned by defeating the various monsters that are apparently divided into Common, Rare and Legendary categories. There is also a kind of overarching story attached to the title.

Here is the official description for The Witcher: Monster Slayer:

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is a location-based augmented reality RPG that challenges you to become a professional monster hunter. Explore the world around you and use your mobile device to track monsters of the witcher world wandering nearby. Follow these monsters and prepare yourself for fighting with time of day, weather conditions, and your witcher knowledge to gain an advantage on your quest to become an elite monster butcher. “

The Witcher: Monster Slayer has no release date yet, but has been announced for iOS and Android. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the most recent major title, is currently available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
