The WeekndPhilanthropy is not limited to North America … he opens his wallet to help people who were injured, people whose loved ones died, and people who were left homeless by the tragic explosion that shook Beirut.
The singer’s manager, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and his wife, Rima Fakih, have led the charge to bring relief to the people in Lebanon affected by last week’s devastating explosion. Now the Weeknd is chipping in with a donation of $ 300k to Global Aid for Lebanon.
We are told that the money will be distributed to the World Food Program, the Lebanese Red Cross and the Children’s Center for the country.
Slaiby, who is Lebanese-Canadian, says … “I am so honored and damned to work with artists who care so deeply for the world and currently for our brothers and sisters from Lebanon who pain and need our collective help. “
He thanks the Weeknd for his boldness and encourages others to give what they can.
As you may know … The Weeknd is one of the many celebs that have been extra charitable over the last 6 months. He owed $ 500k to social justice orgs and also donated $ 1M for COVID-19 relief and $ 350K for Tik Tok’s Equal Justice Initiative.
Clearly he has more to give … and the people of Beirut really need it.
